Paths to Tranquility in an Anxious World

We all experience stress and anxiety on many fronts. Families and individuals face personal challenges, grappling with difficult world and national crises, and many are still recuperating from the effects of isolation created by the COVID pandemic.

Seniors and concerned caregivers are also trying to navigate a rapidly changing environment, increasingly influenced by technology and AI.

In my work with senior transitions, I’ve had the opportunity to speak with many professionals who have shared their insights on moving forward. Drawing from their education and experience, they’ve offered guidelines that may help ease responses to these varied challenges.

BBC Bitesize presents numerous recommendations to promote relaxation and calm. Interestingly, visual content can be a tool for soothing the mind.

For instance, when feeling low, looking at the color blue may help. Blue was reported as “the world’s favorite color” in 2015, with about a third of people in Britain choosing it as their top choice, likely because of its calming effects. In 2017, a blue-green shade called “Marrs Green” took the lead, suggesting that hues combining nature and tranquility hold universal appeal.

The popularity of blue has remained constant over time, known for promoting calmness and stimulating creativity. Embracing nature, whether through images or by spending time outdoors, also brings many positive effects. Gazing at a calm ocean, for instance, is thought to induce a meditative state, helping us respond more positively to our surroundings. Combining water scenes with a blue backdrop may improve mental health and foster better coping skills.

Hopefully, this exploration of Relaxation can assist you to determine which

images, surroundings and techniques fit your personal needs. One last thought, don't overlook the benefit of cute and devoted animal companions to help us embrace calm and companionship.

A Beautiful Vista, Touching Tribute

Read about how a local family is honoring their late son by helping rebuild the tower at Gumbo Limbo and creating a tranquil spot to celebrate Jacob Kozowski's passion for the ocean.
